Buenos Aires is a beautiful historic city in South America on the East Coast. It is sometimes called the Paris of South America due to its European influence which can be seen in its architecture.

It’s a favorite city among many travelers who enjoy its great food, including famous steaks and red wine, and many great cultural activities including tango.

Buenos Aires is an enormous city with many varied neighborhoods. Palermo is perhaps the most popular neighborhood with many trendy cafes, shops, and nightlife. It is also a very dog friendly neighborhood where you will often see walkers with many dogs in tow. Some other very popular neighborhoods include Belgrano, Recoleta and Retiro each of which have their own unique characters. By far the best way to get to know the neighborhoods is going for a visit and exploring!

For my US readers, $2000/sq m = $185/sq ft (because 10.76 sq feet = 1 sq meter)

I like to look at median listing price to get a sense of how expensive a generic apartment might be in a particular neighborhood

Contextualizing rental yields by showing them in relation to median for sale price gives a sense of how long it would take to pay off a property via renting

Argentina is an interesting place to keep an eye on as the real estate market has been changing fast as the country has been confronting issues of hyperinflation and economic mismanagement for decades. The current president, Javier Milei, has slashed government spending, resulting in the first government surplus in 14 years, and has also eliminated rent controls. With large changes like these it will be interesting to track the market so stay tuned for next month’s article on how the market evolves!
